ANI AND CIÊNCIA VIVA PROMOTE NATIONAL INNOVATION COMPETITION AT SCHOOL

Submission of applications until 30 December

ANI, in partnership with Ciência Viva, is promoting the National Innovation Competition at School, which will reward and promote the best innovation ideas that in the school context. Applications run until 30 December.

This competition challenges teachers and students to reflect on how they can improve their school or their community, whether at the level of space, processes or the learning system, contributing to improving the school experience and promoting a culture of innovation in Portugal.

The objectives of this competition are:

  • promote a culture of innovation among students, teachers and the entire school community, developing an environment conducive to the development of innovative ideas;
  • stimulate creativity and the ability to think in an innovative way, encouraging students to seek original solutions and challenges that they identify in the school space;
  • develop transversal skills for students, such as teamwork, communication, leadership, critical thinking, autonomy and problem solving, essential for a more complete training;
  • Simulate the emergence of young talents in the various fields through the development of innovative projects in schools, encouraging more qualified, sustainable and impact entrepreneurship, encouraging the economic use of scientific and technological knowledge;
  • Stimulate active learning by providing a practical and engaging learning experience, as it encourages students to research, experiment and apply their knowledge; Promote greater rapprochement between students, the business world and the professional world, through the establishment of partnerships with scientific institutions and companies, implying a greater interaction of students with the professional world and favoring a collaborative approach between the parties.

The competition is addressed to all students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of primary education and secondary and vocational education, who attend public or private schools in Portugal, including the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores, in the school year 2023/2024.

The prizes will be distributed according to the school year of the students, and for the 1st cycle will be given a family ticket to visit the Pavilion of Knowledge and a technological/didactic toy; for the 2nd and 3rd cycle will be a family ticket to visit the Pavilion of Knowledge and an electronic equipment; secondary and vocational education will be given the opportunity to intern in the Ciência Viva program, in a Laboratory or similar and also an electronic equipment; and for the school representative, from each of the winning teams, will be awarded the trophy “Winner of the National Innovation Competition at School 2023/24”.

The final communication event of the winners will take place as part of the celebrations of the World Day of Creativity and Innovation, on April 22, 2024.
