DIGITAL EUROPE PROGRAMME: DRIVING DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN EUROPE

The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is part of the European Union’s (EU) Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. It aims to implement digital technologies in a scalable and sustainable manner, enhancing Europe’s competitiveness and strategic autonomy.

The National Delegation to the Digital Europe Programme is coordinated by ANI and includes representatives from various national organizations.

Areas of Focus

The programme supports activities in various areas, such as:

  • Digital Infrastructures: Acquisition and upgrade of high-performance computing infrastructures and artificial intelligence testing and experimentation centers.
  • Public Administration: Use of digital technologies, such as electronic identification systems.
  • Cybersecurity: Strengthening resilience in cybersecurity.
  • Digital Skills: Training and development of advanced digital skills.

Strategic Alignment

The Digital Europe Programme supports projects in more mature stages of technological development and the market adoption of digital products and services, not focusing on supporting Research and Innovation projects (if you are interested in this type of support, visit ANI’s page on Horizon Europe).

Structure and Objectives

The programme focuses on six specific, interrelated objectives:

    2. Artificial Intelligence and Data
    3. Cybersecurity
    4. Digital digital advanced
    5. Deployment and Better Use of Digital Capacities
    6. Semiconductors

    Implementation

    The programme’s implementation involves various mechanisms, such as public-private partnerships, actions coordinated by European Commission services, and collaboration with national authorities.

    Funding and Beneficiaries

    The programme funds activities through public procurement, grants, and coordination and support actions. Beneficiaries can include public entities, research centers, higher education institutions, and companies.
