RANKINGS AND INDICATORS

ANI monitors the main innovation indicators and rankings and the results of innovation programs coordinated, managed or supported by ANI. In addition to providing the main indicators that influence the outcome of the innovation process, Portugal’s evolution in the main international innovation rankings is also available.

Innovation Indicators

Using various national and international sources of information (such as EUROSTAT, OECD, INE, Community Innovation Survey or the European Innovation Scoreboard), we provide some indicators related to the innovation process in Portugal, namely indicators of input and output (results). For a better understanding, the indicators have been grouped into 8 areas (Human Resources, Excellence and Attractiveness of the R&D System, Financing R&D and Innovation, Collaborative Networks, Intellectual Property, Innovative Companies, Economic Impacts and Information Society) and can be viewed dynamically.

International Rankings on Business R&D and Innovation

Innovation and Business R&D Surveys in Portugal

Survey of National Scientific and Technological Potential

Annual Survey of Businesses, the State, Higher Education and NPISHs which counts human resources and R&D expenditure, following criteria agreed at European level by EUROSTAT and in conjunction with the OECD. Official statistics on R&D in Portugal are produced from this survey.

Community Innovation Survey

(CIS – Community Innovation Survey) A biennial survey of companies that collects official statistical information on innovation in Portugal. The CIS is a rating tool of the National Statistical System, regulated by the European Union, which measures and characterizes innovation activities in companies. It is carried out under the guidance of Eurostat.
