ENEI 2030 – PRIORITY AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

A ENEI 2030 was approved in June 2022updating the previous ENEI (ENEI 2014).

This strategy represents the culmination of preparatory work carried out over two years by ANI, accompanied by players from the entire national innovation system, without exception. This work took the form of 43 seminars and workshops, with the participation of companies, research centers, interface centers, partner institutions, regional players, business associations, experts, in a broad consultation movement which, in the context of the pandemic, was mainly expressed in digital format and managed to involve more than 2000 people.

Thus, ENEI 2030 presents a vision for Portugal in which the quality of life, the creative environment and scientific and innovative capacity stand out as factors in attracting and retaining talent and business dynamics, thus becoming the driving force behind a path of growth and convergence.

At national level, six horizontal priorities have been defined (figure 1), which are linked to the specific priorities of each region, seeking to maximize complementarity and synergies at the different territorial levels, amplifying the regional stakes and the multiplier effects of public policy.

ANI therefore believes that ENEI 2030 is of strategic importance to the country, since it embodies, at national level, a way of promoting innovation based on a smart specialization strategy, which is expected to have a positive and transformative effect in Portugal.
