PUBLIC INNOVATION POLICIES

The priority of the Public Innovation Policy Management Unit is to coordinate and monitor the implementation of innovation programs and strategies, as well as to develop initiatives to improve the functioning of the National Innovation System:

Designing public policy measures and instruments for innovation, with a view to growing the innovation ecosystem with regard to the Intelligent Specialization Strategy (ENEI), Public Procurement for Innovation (CPI) and other measures.
Promoting the monitoring and evaluation of innovation policies, empowering entities and authorities in innovation policy and creating “evidence” on the economic and social impact of innovation and business R&D policies.
Coordinating and developing standardization activities as the Standardization Body for Innovation (ONS.ANI) and as the secretariat of the technical commissions for I&DI (Research, Development and Innovation) and Artificial Intelligence, guaranteeing through the establishment of rules that scientific advances are developed and used in a safe, ethical and beneficial way for society.

Promote the monitoring and evaluation of innovation policies, empowering ANI in its role of advising the authorities on innovation policy and creating “evidence” on the economic and social impact of innovation and business R&D policies.

The latest initiatives, competitions coordinated by the Innovation Public Policy Unit, are part of ANI’s strategy to promote national innovation.


PROCURE+i, the Portuguese Innovation Public Procurement Competence Center, is the result of a joint initiative by ANI and the Institute of Public Markets, Real Estate and Construction (IMPIC) to bring public entities closer to innovative companies and promote Innovation Public Procurement.

SECTORAL STANDARDIZATION FOR INNOVATION - ONS

Sectoral standardization for innovation refers to the process of developing and implementing specific standards governing the use and application of research, development, and new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The ENEI is of strategic importance, being an aggregator of a national strategy for intelligent specialization, as a way of promoting innovation, highlighting the quality of life, the creative environment and scientific and innovative capacity as factors in attracting and retaining talent and business dynamics.

ENEI TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MEETING

On March 19, the Technical Committee (TC) of the National Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (ENEI 2030) met with the aim of presenting the work developed and underway by the Executive Committee (EC) of ENEI 2030, as well as discussing and preparing the next steps within the framework of the 2024 Activity Plan.
