Sonae Campus, the business park where the Sonae group’s headquarters are located, will open its doors to the scientific and technological communities, universities, startups and all companies interested in testing and evaluating their innovative sustainability solutions in a real environment.
This initiative, called Social Innovation and Open Community Lab, is part of the European PROBONO project and is part of the Porto Living Lab, whose mission is to implement integrated, efficient and sustainable biodiversity and energy solutions to promote and facilitate the energy transition and decarbonisation of companies and countries.
The aim is to test new solutions on sustainability issues, with a focus on energy, biodiversity and circularity, benefiting from Sonae Campus’ buildings, infrastructures and sustainable solutions. Interested parties can submit their applications online until 11 June 2024. Each project is expected to last a maximum of 6 months, since the aim of this initiative is to test and evaluate new solutions at a high level of maturity, rather than to develop them.
The jury that will assess the applications is divided into three areas: Sustainable Energy, Environment and Biodiversity and, finally, Circular Economy.
PROBONO was one of three proposals selected from the 115 submitted to the Horizon 2020 LC-GD-4-1-2020 Framework Programme: “Building and renovating in an energy and resource efficient way”. The total budget amounts to €25,020,040.89 for the period 2021-2026. There are 47 partners from 15 countries, including entities from the Sonae group of companies in Portugal.
This project receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation project and the European Green Deal, for which ANI was the National Contact Point.
