Orca is an autonomous surface vehicle equipped with scientific instruments designed to collect geological parameters through seabed mapping. This innovation addresses the need for more accessible and cost-effective methods to generate knowledge about the ocean floor.
Promoters:
• CEIIA Interface Center;
• MAR 2020 Operational Program.
Challenges Addressed:
The developments carried out as part of this project have made it possible, among other things:
• Collecting data to generate knowledge about the morphological and geological diversity of the seabed in a more accessible and economical way.
Practical Benefits for Society:
Após a conclusão do projeto foram alcançados vários benefícios, tais como:
• Preventing illegal activities in the marine environment through surveillance missions;
• Providing an autonomous vehicle capable of adapting to the needs of companies and other entities for a wide range of missions, such as assessing water column composition or inspecting underwater structures.
