The EGR – EcoGreenRoof project aims to develop ecological substrates using inorganic and organic industrial waste for use in green roofs.
Promoters:
- CVR Interface Centre – Centre for the Recovery of Waste;
- ITECONS Interface Centre – Research and Technological Development Institute for Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability;
- NEOTURF – Construção e Manutenção de Espaços Verdes, Lda.;
- W2V.
Challenges Addressed:
The developments carried out under this project have made it possible, among other things:
- The reuse and valorisation of resources through the transversal use of waste with different compositions and origins;
- The development of substrates with recycled materials that could replace conventional products, stimulating the circular economy.
Practical Benefits for Society:
Following the completion of EGR – EcoGreenRoof several benefits have been realised, such as:
- The possibility of analysing the feasibility of other applications of the project, such as the use of recycled materials in the production of substrates for gardening or nurseries;
- The possibility, through the dissemination of the project’s results, of making the use of green roofs more widespread, promoting better environmental quality in urban spaces.
