On March 5, applications opened for the 9th edition of the European Capital of Innovation Awards (iCapital).
This competition annually recognizes cities with inclusive innovation ecosystems, seeking to identify urban ecosystems that connect citizens, the public sector, academia, and businesses, translating into results that improve the well-being of their citizens and promote disruptive innovations.
In addition to the main category, European Capital of Innovation, intended for cities with more than 250,000 inhabitants, the category “Rising Innovative City” is also included to reward cities with more than 50,000 and fewer than 250,000 inhabitants.
The top three cities in each category will receive a monetary prize, as well as all the visibility and recognition associated with such initiatives.
The iCapital Prize is promoted by the EIC, whose activities in Portugal are supported by ANI, within the framework of the PERIN Network. Portugal has a support network for national participation in European Commission initiatives that finance and promote research and innovation.
Applications are open until June 18, 2024, and additional information about the prize and the respective participation rules can be found here.
