The partnership envisages drawing up a joint strategic action plan, in line with Clean Aviation’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), which will define priority areas for investment and research. By 2027, Portugal intends to mobilize up to 15 million euros in national projects to support the decarbonization of the aviation sector and strengthen the national supply chain.

The President of ANI, António Grilo, highlighted the agency’s role in creating synergies between national and European programs, facilitating access to funding and promoting the participation of Portuguese players in high-impact projects. The President of ANAC, Ana Vieira da Mata, stressed the importance of technical and financial alignment to speed up aviation’s transition to carbon neutrality.

Portugal thus becomes the first EU member state to formalize a partnership of this nature with the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking, reinforcing the country’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the aviation sector.
