IPCEI – IMPORTANT PROJECTS OF COMMON EUROPEAN INTEREST

H2

Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) are strategic tools for implementing the European Union’s (EU) Industrial Strategy.

They are realized through large-scale consortia aimed at Research and Development and the first industrial applications in strategic value chains.

In view of the common and strategic interest, IPCEI projects are subject to a notification process to the European Commission in order to be exempt from the application of the limits underlying state aid regulations.

In Portugal, this measure is promoted by ANI, in partnership with IAPMEI.

It is aimed at projects, in any economic sector and involving more than one member state, with the potential to create growth and jobs, boost competitiveness, sustainability and create value across the EU.

To be eligible, projects must be co-financed by the beneficiaries, guarantee common benefits and demonstrate their innovative capacity and high added value. There are currently two successfully launched projects in the microelectronics and batteries value chains.
