Under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, the INOVA+ Award is organized by the consultancy firm INOVA+, in partnership with the Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI), the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP), the Coordinating Council of Polytechnic Higher Education Institutes (CCISP), the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP), and the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes).
To mark its 25th anniversary in 2022, INOVA+ launched the first edition of this award, introducing a category dedicated to public innovation projects that merge art, science, and/or technology. The winners of the Creative Cities category were chosen through an online vote, attracting over 270,000 votes.
In the Business Innovation and Scientific Innovation categories, winners were determined by a jury, comprising representatives from academia and the business community. The panel included Eurico Neves, Chairman of INOVA+, and representatives from partner organizations: Diogo Gomes de Araújo (ANI), Benvinda Catarino (AIP), Paulo Jorge Ferreira (CRUP), Maria de Fátima Nunes de Carvalho (CCISP), and Bruno Coelho (DGArtes).
