The European Commission has opened the 2026 edition of the European Prize for Women Innovators, an award promoted by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), which honours women entrepreneurs responsible for high-impact innovations in Europe.
The award includes nine honours divided into three categories:
- EIC Women Innovators – prizes of €100,000, €70,000 and €50,000;
- EIC Rising Innovators (under 35) – prizes of €50,000, €30,000 and €20,000;
- EIT Women Leadership Award – prizes of €50,000, €30,000 and €20,000.
Female founders or co-founders of companies or organisations based in the European Union or in countries associated with Horizon Europe can apply. Each application must be submitted individually and in a single category.
The proposals will be judged on the criteria of innovation, impact and ability to inspire. Portugal was represented in the previous edition, with a winner among those honoured.
