AI Continent Action Plan to be implemented between 2025 and 2027
On 9 April, the European Commission launched the AI Continent Action Plan, a new action plan to position Europe as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The initiative follows the entry into force of the AI Act and aims to ensure an ethical and human-centred approach, in line with European values.
The plan will be implemented between 2025 and 2027 and focuses on the application of AI solutions in strategic sectors such as health, mobility, public administration and energy. Through programmes such as Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, Connecting Europe Facility and Cohesion Funds, the Commission proposes a set of concrete measures to support startups and SMEs in adopting AI-based solutions, strengthen digital skills and specialised training, facilitate access to state-of-the-art AI infrastructures and improve coordination between member states.
With this strategy, the European Commission aims to ensure that Europe remains competitive on the global stage by promoting responsible, innovative and sustainable technological development.
