The application phase of the new edition of the Altice International Innovation Award (AIIA) is open, which awards 100,000 euros to startups in the incubation phase with innovative projects in relevant technological areas or that promote digital inclusion and accessibility to communication. The submission period ends on September 29th.

In addition to monetary awards, the winners will have the opportunity to conduct a proof of concept with Altice, with a view to the evolution of their project, and benefit from incubation services from Startup Lisboa/ Unicorn Factory Lisboa or Startup Braga, partners of the Award. In addition, the participating startups are also competing for the Born from Knowledge – Awards (BfK), an initiative promoted by ANI – National Innovation Agency, which aims to distinguish Portuguese projects “born in knowledge”, or that stand out in R&D activities.

The 2024 edition of the Altice International Innovation Award presents two categories to the competition:

  • Categoria “Startup” – Premeia startups, em Fase de incubação, que apresentem Projetos inovadores em Áreas Tecnológicas relevantes para o core business da Altice (como IA/ML, Extended Reality, 5G, IoT, Smart Cities, Big Data, eHealth, Future Networks, Security, entre outros).
  • Category “INCLUI” by Altice Foundation – Promoted by the Altice Foundation, it distinguishes projects that promote digital inclusion and accessibility to communication, in particular in school, professional and social contexts, providing a set of services, technological solutions or initiatives for people with disabilities.

Applying for a global amount of 100,000 euros, distributed in both categories – Startup (75,000€) and “INCLUDES” by Altice Foundation (25,000€) – applications to the AIIA must be submitted online through the form available here.

The winners will be announced on November 26, in a ceremony that will take place in Lisbon, and where the finalists will have the opportunity to defend their projects before the Grand Jury made up of Altice Group leaders and relevant personalities from the corporate and business areas of scientific and social media research and innovation.

Launched in 2017, the Altice International Innovation Award has been an integral part of the national entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, reinforcing Portugal’s positioning and spreading Portuguese talent worldwide.
