Applications are open until 25 July for the 2025 edition of AgriJovem, an initiative of the European Commission Representation in Portugal, in collaboration with the National Rural Network and with the support of the University of Évora – MED (Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development).

For three days, 40 higher education students with an interest in the agricultural sector will have the opportunity to reflect on European policies with a direct impact on agricultural activity, with an emphasis on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The programme includes lectures and practical sessions with representatives from the European Commission, academics, experienced farmers and young professionals from the sector.

This year’s edition covers topics such as healthy soils, animal welfare, new genomic techniques, food sustainability, innovation, competitiveness and skills, promoting a look at the future of agriculture in the context of the digital and energy transition.

AgriJovem 2025 also marks Portugal’s 40th anniversary as a member of the European Union, promoting a reflection on the role of the CAP over the last few decades and its evolution, with a special focus on supporting the new generations of farmers.

Applications are open until 25 July.
