On the 28th of October, the Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ) hosted the 1st Iberian Standardisation Meeting, a joint initiative with the Spanish Association for Standardisation (UNE), which took place in the Ricardo Fernandes Auditorium at IPQ | Caparica.
Under the theme ‘Partnerships for a Sustainable and Competitive Digital Market’, the meeting was part of the celebrations for World Standards Day, dedicated to Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Implementation of SDGs, bringing together around 300 participants. Business, technical and institutional representatives from Portugal and Spain were present, including several Spanish companies, in a debate focused on the challenges of digital and sustainable transition.
The Digital Product Passport (DPP), a strategic project of the European Union (EU) that aims to strengthen traceability, circularity, and regulatory compliance throughout the product life cycle, took centre stage at the meeting, illustrating the importance of standardisation as an essential tool for industrial sustainability and competitiveness.
ANI participated as a member of CT 228, the Portuguese Technical Standardisation Committee dedicated to the ‘Digital Product Passport’, chaired and secretaried by GS1 Portugal, monitoring the challenges of implementing the DPP, presented by the EC – DG Grow and by national and international experts from the construction and metallurgy, textile and battery sectors.
