TEST AND EXPERIMENTATION FACILITIES | TEST BEDS
The concept of Test Beds is related to the provision of infrastructure and equipment by entities with installed capacity to provide services to SMEs and Startups. These services consist of testing and experimenting with innovative products and services from these SMEs and Startups, in a physical or virtual space, in order to develop them and assess their TRL (Technology Readiness Level).
The Test Beds aim to increase the number of pilots of products or services (digital or only possible to produce using the digitization of processes and digital tools), shortening the cycle of their innovation and overcoming the so-called “valley of death” of innovation, namely in the transition from validation in the laboratory to the commercialization phase, leveraging innovative products or services to a TRL of 5 or more.

The Excellence Test Bed category includes those characterized by high experimentation and testing capacity, requiring the development of at least 60 pilot products.
Leader
Excellence
The Excellence Test Bed category includes those characterized by high experimentation and testing capacity, requiring the development of at least 60 pilot products.
Europe Excellence
Excellence Test Beds can apply to join the European Network of Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEF), integrating a European consortium and potentially accessing additional funding to scale the Test Bed to the European level. This is supported by the Digital Europe Program (DEP), as defined by the program’s terms, with a minimum of 100 pilot products.
