The Startups Meet Pharma (SMP) program, promoted by EIT Health in partnership with Abbott, has launched its third edition of challenges, inviting innovative startups and SMEs to develop solutions for assessing the immune status of healthy individuals using minimally invasive or non-invasive methods.
The challenge aims to identify approaches that integrate digital biomarkers, wearable devices, artificial intelligence-based analysis, new immune indicators, or non-invasive collection techniques. Solutions should ensure quantitative, interpretable, and clinically relevant results, with competitive costs and the potential for rapid and accessible implementation, especially in the context of clinical trials.
Among the eligibility criteria, the use of methods that do not require conventional blood sampling stands out, favoring alternative samples such as saliva, sweat, urine, feces, air, or skin and nasal swabs, or even data from wearable sensors. Solutions that eliminate the need for cold storage, ensure clinically meaningful measurements based on validated literature, and can be implemented at a low cost, equivalent to or lower than current methods, are also valued.
Profit-making SMEs legally established in the European Union, Switzerland, or countries associated with Horizon Europe are eligible to apply, provided they have at least one working prototype of the solution.
