Applications open until January 15, 2025
The SPRIND (German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation) has unveiled a new challenge focused on Composite Learning, aiming to enable decentralized training of artificial intelligence (AI) models through distributed computational resources. This initiative addresses the growing need to reduce reliance on centralized GPUs, often controlled by major tech companies.
With a total funding pool of up to €12 million, SPRIND will support up to 10 teams, providing each with up to €1.65 million over three phases spanning 30 months. Applications are open to institutions across Europe, including universities, startups, and companies, as well as to non-EU countries such as the United Kingdom and Israel.
To help applicants understand the challenge’s goals and requirements, SPRIND will host two webinars:
The challenge aims to democratize access to advanced AI by enabling small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups across Europe to develop and deploy large-scale AI systems.
