COOKIE POLICY

The Cookies Policy and other tracking technologies govern the processing of data, including personal data, of users (“User” or “Users”), collected through the use of ANI’s websites and applications via cookies, by the entity ANI – Agência Nacional de Inovação S. A, as the data controller, hereinafter referred to as “ANI.”

The present Cookies Policy and other tracking technologies should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy.

Cookies

Like most websites and applications, in order to function properly, we occasionally install small files called cookies on your computer or mobile device.

ANI uses cookies and other similar tracking technologies to distinguish you from other users when you use the websites or applications.

These technologies help us provide you with a better experience when you browse the websites or applications, allowing us to improve the website or application itself and offer you tailored content, promotions, campaigns, and information.

What are they?

Cookies are small information files that are stored on your computer or mobile device through your browser.

These files allow the website or application to “remember” your actions and preferences for a certain period of time, such as your username, chosen language, font size, and other display settings.

That’s why, when you browse the pages of a website or application or return to a website or application you’ve visited before, you usually won’t need to re-enter your preferences.

What are they used for?

Cookies identify your browser to the server, allowing information to be stored on your device.

This technology serves various purposes, such as helping to determine the usefulness, interest, and number of uses of our websites or applications, enabling faster and more efficient browsing for the user by eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same information.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies, although you can configure your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

When you browse the website or application and the cookie is accepted, on your next visit to the website or application, our internet server will recognize your computer or mobile device. This way, when you browse the pages of a website or application or return to a website or application you’ve visited before and have given consent for the use of cookies, you usually won’t need to re-enter your preferences or information previously provided.

What types of cookies are there?

There are various types of cookies.
Considering the lifespan of cookies, they can be classified as:

Permanent cookies
These are cookies that are stored on your access devices (PC, mobile, or tablet) even after you close your browser and are used whenever you make a new visit to one of our websites or applications. They are generally used to direct navigation to the user’s interests, allowing us to provide a more personalized service.

Session cookies
These are temporary cookies that remain in your browser’s cookie file until you leave the website or application. The information obtained by these cookies is used to analyze web traffic patterns, helping us identify issues and provide a better browsing experience.

Considering the domain to which they belong, cookies can be classified as:

First-party cookies
These are cookies sent to the user’s device from a device or domain managed by ANI from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party cookies
These are cookies sent to the user’s device from a device or domain that is not managed by ANI, but by another entity that processes the data collected through cookies.

How to enable or disable cookies?

By changing the settings on your computer or mobile device, users of websites or applications can enable or disable the acceptance of cookies.

All browsers allow the user to accept, refuse, or delete cookies, typically by selecting the appropriate settings in the browser.

The user can configure their browser to inform them whenever a cookie is received or even disable its acceptance, but ANI warns that this may partially affect the use of some of our services, and the browsing experience on our website may not be improved or personalized.

If your browser’s privacy settings are set to “High,” you may not be able to access some of our services, and you may be prevented from fully using all the features of our websites or applications.

To resolve this issue, add our internet addresses to the list of allowed websites in your browser’s privacy settings.

If you are accessing our websites from a company computer and cannot access them, the issue may be due to corporate security settings. We recommend contacting your system administrator.

User Rights

To learn how to exercise your rights regarding the protection of personal data, as well as for more information about the terms of data processing by ANI, users should refer to our Privacy Policy.

If you need any clarification, you can also contact the Data Protection Officer at epd@ani.pt or at Edifício NET, Rua de Salazares, 842, 4149-002 Porto, Portugal.
