Investiment of 5,5 M€ in 55 startups
Portugal Ventures, venture capital company of the Banco Português de Fomento Group, in partnership with ANI, will launch the results of the 3 editions of the Call INNOV-ID, through an event “Call INNOV-ID: Invest in the Future”also present the impact of editions in the preservation and enhancement of innovative projects of the national scientific system. This event will take place on October 13, from 09:15 to 12:00, at the Technological Forum of Lispolis, and will be attended by the Minister of Economy and Sea, António Costa e Silva and the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato.
Call INNOV-ID’s mission is to respond to a market failure in access to investment in startups in the pre-seed phase, whose technology is developed, but is still in the prototype phase, proof of concept or product-market-fit validation. After three editions, Portugal Ventures invested 5.5 million euros (€M) in 55 startups, with more than 300 applications in the three editions.
This call presented another 7 new investments:
- Azulfy – provides City Councils with a pollution event management platform, which monitors pollution in the water, land and air of their territories on a daily basis. This SaaS uses images taken from orbiting satellites, drones and local video cameras.
- Generous – aims to revolutionize the way we care for plants in our homes, through its innovative line of products “Generous”, based on circular economy principles, using co-products of bioindustries and the use of reusable materials. Their products facilitate the task of caring for and empowering people to keep plants alive longer, thus contributing to their well-being in a more sustainable lifestyle.
- INEYE Pharma – is a startup focused on the treatment of eye diseases and aims to transfer to the market the technology developed. This technology allows to administer drugs in the eye for several months in a controlled way, avoiding the use of drops, which improves adherence to therapy by the patient and the effectiveness of drugs.
- Stonify – is a digital platform for professionals in the industrial sector of natural stone, which aggregates all the information of production and commercial processes through the capture of finished products in a digital object, allowing its users to optimize processes and explore new markets efficiently, ensuring traceability and measuring the sustainability of their products.
- TIMEUP – a spin-off developed within the University of Coimbra and created in 2023 by 5 researchers from the fields of microbiology and biomaterials, the research centers of UC – CNC-UC, CEF and CIEPQPF and with the participation of a researcher from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, which since 2018 have developed an innovative diagnostic device, capable of monitoring the urine of patients for several weeks. The company already has a functional prototype tested in the laboratory to detect the bacteria responsible for more than 80% of urinary infections, which in 2024 will be optimized to monitor more pathogens.
- TWEVO – a technological company that provides video solutions with Artificial Intelligence, where “intelligent eyes” complement and expand the supervision and human control of industrial processes on the factory floor. They aim to help the industry increase its productivity and sustainability by avoiding waste of raw materials and energy losses caused by unnecessary breaks, and improve 5D industrial working conditions (Dull, Dirty, Dangerous, Difficult and Dear).
- Unlockit – a Web3 PropTech & GovTech company that is revolutionizing the real estate market by making the process of a real estate transaction more credible, secure and transparent, ensuring compliance with the latest European Community legislation – Electronic signatures regulation, Money Laundering Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regime.
