Portugal stands out from the European average in Horizon Europe’s EIC Pathfinder Challenges 2024 competition

National organizations participate in 19% of all approved projects

The results of the EIC Pathfinder Challenges 2024 competition, which closed last October, have just been announced. Of the 430 proposals submitted globally, 31 projects were funded, including 6 with national participation, which represents 19% of the total approved.

The 5 Portuguese institutions involved raised a total of 3.22 million euros, with a success rate of 8.8%, exceeding the European average of 7.2%. NOVA ID FCT and IST-ID stand out with two approved proposals each.

The EIC Pathfinder is one of the European Innovation Council’s (EIC) three instruments, funding highly innovative and disruptive early-stage R&D projects with the potential to create markets or respond to global challenges.
