Document Highlights Strategies to Strengthen Competitiveness and Innovation in Europe
Portugal has presented a Position Paper on November 29 outlining recommendations for the upcoming 10th European Framework Program for Research and Innovation (FP10). The aim is to ensure that the next framework program surpasses traditional models by adopting strategies that enhance European competitiveness, promote disruptive innovation, and address global challenges.
The main priorities include:
- Excellence and Open Innovation: Encouraging collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
Competitive calls supporting start-ups and SMEs.
- Green and Digital Transition: Alignment with initiatives such as the Green Deal and the Net-Zero Industry Act. Prioritization of clean technologies, AI, and biotechnology.
- Attractive Research Careers: Support for mobility, training, and retention of talent within Europe.
- Strategic Infrastructures: Investments in large-scale research infrastructures. Strengthening synergies between national and European funds.
