NATIONAL SCHOOL INNOVATION CONTEST CELEBRATES WORLD CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION DAY

The ANI and Ciência Viva are organizing a national innovation contest aimed at developing innovative solutions for problems identified by students from all levels of primary and secondary education in their schools.

To mark the World Creativity and Innovation Day, the final of the 1st Edition of the National School Innovation Contest . To mark the World Creativity and Innovation Day, the final of the 1st Edition of the National School Innovation Contest will take place on April 22, 2024, at the Pavilion of Knowledge in Lisbon.

This event will announce the winning teams across four categories:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Cycles of Primary Education
Secondary and Professional Education
Purpose of the Contest
The competition aims to:
Foster a culture of innovation among students in both public and private schools in Portugal.
Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving by rewarding the most innovative ideas.

20 teams from 9 districts of mainland Portugal are competing.
Involves nearly 100 students, guided by their teachers. Each team consists of one teacher and up to five students, tasked with finding an innovative solution to solve a problem they have identified in their school.

The competition is organized into four categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Cycles, and Secondary and Vocational Education. There will be one winning team selected from each category.

For several months, ANI and Ciência Viva have empowered teachers and students through informative sessions and a mentoring program to support each team in enhancing their project and pitch.

Each winner will receive a trophy for their school, medals, and a toy or technological equipment. Additionally, secondary/vocational students will also be entitled to a Ciência Viva internship. The winning teams will also have the opportunity to pitch their projects to potential partner entities to implement their projects.

The event, which will bring together 200 people, will take place at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento in Lisbon and will feature the presence of the Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, at the awards ceremony and closing, scheduled from 5:45 PM to 6:15 PM.
