CRIAM, a six-year-old Portuguese start-up, has created a portable device that allows you to identify your blood type in three minutes, with the aim of reducing the waiting time for blood tests, the money invested in this equipment and also the dependence on the O- blood type (the type of universal donors, i.e. those who can give blood to anyone). This week he won a prize.
This project earned CRIAM the Born from Knowledge (BfK) Awards, which were presented on Wednesday by the National Innovation Agency (ANI). “Given the current development of medicine and the need to speed up healthcare processes more and more, using fewer resources, I predict that the project will be very well received in the market, which is our main objective,” says João Mendes Borga, ANI’s director, quoted in the press release.
