Under Cluster 2 – Culture, Creativity, and Inclusive Society of Horizon Europe, five topics dedicated to the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) are open for submissions until January 22, 2025.
A total of €50M is available to fund 10 research and innovation projects through international collaboration. The objective is to develop and test digital solutions and tools to integrate into the ECCCH:
– Development of innovative tools for interaction with visitors and cultural objects;
– Development of innovative tools for documentation, linking, and organization of data;
– Development of innovative tools for data analysis and processing.
The European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage is a European initiative aimed at establishing a digital infrastructure to connect cultural heritage institutions and professionals across the European Union. It will provide sector-specific digital tools and break down barriers for smaller and more remote institutions.
In its initial launch phase, the ECCCH will be funded through Horizon Europe, with €110M allocated for the period 2023–2025.
Approved Projects Under the 2023 Call (Cluster 2):
- €25M for a project that will define the basic architecture of the cloud, as well as its governance: To set the basic architecture and governance of the ECCCH: Project European Cloud for Heritage OpEnScience (ECHOES);
- €10M for two projects that will develop cloud-compatible tools for the digitisation of cultural heritage objects: AUTOMatedenriched digitisation of Archaeological liThics and cerAmics (AUTOMATA) & TEXTile digitisAtIon tooLs and mEthodS for cultural heritage (TEXTaiLES).
