AFCEA Portugal and the General Staff of the Armed Forces (EMGFA) are hosting an International Conference titled “Strengthening Defense: The role of innovation and emerging and disruptive technologies.” The event will take place at the Military University Institute (IUM) on July 11.
The conference will feature the President of the Republic, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The program includes two panels focused on Horizon Europe Cluster 3: Civil Security for Society. The first panel will feature a discussion on the goals of Horizon Europe, with a representative from DG HOME (European Commission) responsible for the Civil Security for Society program. The second panel will showcase experiences from entities that have successfully participated in this area of Horizon Europe.
Key objectives of the event:
- Promote discussion on the importance of innovation in strengthening robust Armed Forces;
- Identify challenges and opportunities for decision-makers and authorities in the Defense and Security sectors, both nationally and internationally, within EMGFA and its branches;
- Analyze contributions from the branches, BTID, and academia to innovation, particularly in emerging and disruptive technologies across multiple domains.
