HORIZON EUROPE: CANADA’S ASSOCIATION TO THE PROGRAM

22.Jul.2024

Canada joins the group of non-European Union countries associated with the EU’s research and innovation program, Horizon Europe.

Negotiations between Canada and the European Union have concluded, resulting in Canada’s association with Horizon Europe, specifically with Pillar II of the program. This pillar funds international collaboration projects in research and innovation across various domains, aiming to generate knowledge, technologies, and solutions to address current societal challenges.

This association means Canadian entities can be directly funded through the program if their Pillar II project proposals are approved.

Until the association agreement is officially signed, a transitional arrangement is in place for Canadian entities. They can participate in proposals as beneficiaries, including calls for 2024.
