European Commission launches public consultation to simplify digital rules

25.Sep.2025

Until October 14, 2025

The European Commission (EC) has launched a public consultation on expressions of interest in the future digital Omnibus, focusing on the areas of data, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

The aim is to simplify the European regulatory framework, reducing administrative burdens and costs for businesses, in line with the Competitiveness Compass targets: a 25% reduction in administrative burdens for all businesses and a 35% reduction for SMEs.

The initiative was structured in two parts:

  1. Call for Evidence: the aim is to gather contributions and best practices in order to simplify existing legislation and avoid overlaps.
  2. Public Consultation: aimed at companies, associations, public entities, and research institutions, gathering opinions on the current application of digital rules and proposals for improvement.

Contributions can be submitted until October 14, 2025, via the European Commission’s “Have Your Say” portal available here.
