Surveys close on November 25
The European Commission, in coordination with the Member States, has launched a public consultation on the semiconductor value chain. This consists of two surveys, one for suppliers and one for end users of semiconductors, which will be open until November 25.
The results of the consultation will be analysed and prepared by the European Commission working with the European Semiconductor Expert Group to propose the best approach to the monitoring mechanism, which will include the identification of potential early warning indicators suitable to anticipate future failures in the semiconductor supply chain and prevent future crises.
Semiconductors are essential for the functioning of our economy and society. Over the years, the European Union has witnessed unprecedented supply disruptions that have led to serious delays and negative effects in key economic sectors, including delays in repairing and maintaining critical products for critical sectors.
In response to this issue, on 8 February 2022, the European Commission published a recommendation with immediate effect to enable the rapid and coordinated monitoring of the value chain of European semiconductors, focusing on the risks that can disrupt, impair or adversely affect its supply. This control aims to prepare and allow the permanent monitoring mechanism of this chain, proposed under the Chips Law.

Those interested in participating in the survey for end users can do so here.
Responses will be uploaded to the secure platform of the EU survey, in an aggregated and anonymous manner, to which only the European Commission has access. Confidentiality of information and data obtained through these surveys shall be respected.
