European Commission launches public consultation on the next European Union budget.

20.Feb.2025

Public consultation open to define priorities and strategic investments.

The European Commission (EC) has initiated the discussion process on the future Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), the European Union’s (EU) long-term budget, which will be implemented in 2028. The objective is to adapt the budget to the EU’s new priorities and challenges, ensuring strategic investments in key sectors for member countries and promoting financial stability among Member States.

To ensure an efficient budget that meets the needs of European citizens, a 12-week public consultation has been launched, allowing citizens and interested entities to share their opinions. Additionally, a panel of 150 citizens will convene to discuss and present concrete recommendations on the future budget, supported by an online platform that enables broad participation

The new budget will be formally presented in July 2025, with the aim of reaching a final agreement before its implementation in January 2028.
