Portugal is posed to be a leader in the European transition to fully renewable energy. Large-scale energy storage systems are needed to increase grid resilience and to democratize electric transportation adoption. VG CoLAB’s research aims to address this need, with teams dedicated to the development of redox flow batteries, supercapacitors with sustainable reagents, sodium batteries without critical materials, and power management systems to optimize and preserve lifetime for these applications.
