S2AQUAcoLAB, founded in 2021, is a private non-profit institution whose mission is to raise aquaculture to another level. Although based in the Algarve, it has partners from all over the country, including 2 higher education institutions, 2 research centres, 1 local authority body, 1 institution that manages ports and fisheries at a national level, 1 cooperative and 9 companies. S2AQUAcoLABs mission is to foster the development of aquaculture, through research on production optimisation, with the identification of bio-indicators of health and welfare (WP4) and addressing climate change by adapting production systems. The ultimate goal is to generate new products, drive technological development and explore new market prospects. S2AQUAcoLAB and its network of partners have the infrastructure, equipment and means to pursue scientific research of excellence and conduct research projects in key areas that will transform the landscape of Aquaculture.
