ANI joins IPQ in celebrating World Standardization Day 2024 To commemorate World Standards Day on October 14, the ANI (Agência Nacional de Inovação) is collaborating with the IPQ (Portuguese Institute for Quality) to host a series of initiatives throughout the week. These activities aim to raise awareness of the importance of standardization and the use of standards, leveraging digital channels for outreach.
In 2024, global discussions will focus on the role of international standards in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), which promotes innovation, sustainable infrastructure, and inclusive, resilient industrialization. This goal, part of the UN’s 2030 Agenda, emphasizes transforming economies and enhancing social well-being through robust infrastructure investments and innovative technologies.
These initiatives aim to demonstrate the importance of standardization and the impact of standards on competitiveness and as a support for innovation, leveraged by the digital transition process, which aims to make SMART standards available in the short term and the use of Artificial Intelligence tools that make standards more accessible to everyone.
The ANI, as the Sectoral Standardization Body within the Portuguese Standardization System, coordinates and oversees the activities of Technical Committee 169 (CT 169), created by the National Standardization Body (ONN) – IPQ. The committee, chaired by Dr. Isabel Caetano, ensures smooth operations and provides notifications to IPQ to maintain standardization activities. Isabel Caetano, and notify the IPQ of any information in order to ensure the regular functioning of the normative activity in these matters.
