<\/p>\n\n

The MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development is organising the seminar \u2018<\/em>The future of the agri-food sector in the context of social and climate challenges\u2019<\/em> on March 13 at 2pm at the University of \u00c9vora’s Esp\u00edrito Santo College. The event aims to encourage debate on the role of research and innovation in adapting agriculture and food to global climate and economic changes, with the participation of specialists from the sector, academics and representatives of national and European organisations. <\/p>\n\n

The initiative follows on from the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture<\/em><\/a>, whose final report, presented to the European Commission in September 2024, outlines strategic recommendations for making agricultural systems more resilient and sustainable. The document will have a direct impact on the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and will be taken into account when defining the European vision for the food sector. <\/p>\n\n

ANI will be part of the event’s round table, contributing its experience in supporting companies in the agri-food sector and promoting innovative solutions to the challenges of climate transition, digitalisation and sustainability. The intervention will highlight ANI’s role in boosting the national innovation ecosystem and implementing policies and programmes that facilitate companies’ access to funding and technological knowledge. National examples will also be shared where innovation is already contributing to some of these challenges. <\/p>\n\n

The closing session will feature speeches by Jos\u00e9 Manuel Fernandes, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Herm\u00ednia Vasconcelos Vilar, Rector of the University of \u00c9vora, and F\u00e1tima Baptista, Director of MED.<\/p>\n\n

Participation is free, but registration is required by 10 March.<\/p>\n\n
