It absorbs the thermal energy from the drainage water and uses it to preheat the cold water, enabling it to reduce energy consumption by up to 40 per cent. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Promoters:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.inegi.pt\/pt\/\" target=\"_blank\">INEGI Interface Centre<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EIDT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Challenges Addressed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The developments carried out under this project have made it possible, among other things:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The decarbonisation of the services sector by rationalising thermal energy consumption, using renewable energy sources, recovering waste heat, storing thermal energy and optimising thermal energy management in buildings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Practical Benefits for Society:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Following the completion of the ZYPHO &#8211; Heat Recovery Siphon a number of benefits have been realised, such as:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The transition from a linear economy to a circular economy in the services sector, by reducing waste (thermal energy);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased energy efficiency in the service and residential sectors and, consequently, lower energy costs associated with the operation of buildings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"262\" src=\"http:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ZYPHO-INEGI.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ZYPHO-INEGI.png 500w, https:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ZYPHO-INEGI-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ZYPHO-INEGI-480x252.png 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zypho.pt\/?fbclid=IwAR2xSsz7sjbXY3D4JfAl00oVGMbBAm9_IHOJmWyiZ22zxIImLeRKjKbtpGs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">More information on the project here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ZYPHO &#8211; Heat Recovery Siphon project aims to develop a compact, highly efficient heat recovery unit that is installed under the shower tray.
