This was achieved through polymer processing technologies combined with non-woven fabric processing techniques. An innovative solution was developed specifically for personal protective equipment (PPE), designed to provide an immediate response to the current pandemic and future public health challenges.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Promoters:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.trimnw.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trim NW<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.citeve.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\">CITEVE Interface Center<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.piep.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\">PIEP \u2013 Polymer Engineering Innovation Pole<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Challenges Addressed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The project developments enabled the following advancements:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development of materials, components, personal protective equipment (PPE), and medical devices that offer enhanced barrier protection for end users against infectious agents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Practical Benefits for Society:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The completion of the INOVPNT project brought several significant benefits, including:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development of PPE, particularly surgical garments for healthcare professionals, with antibacterial and antiviral properties capable of addressing various pathogens, especially in providing an immediate response to the current pandemic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promotion of safety for at-risk groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"397\" height=\"208\" src=\"http:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/INOVPNT.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/INOVPNT.jpg 397w, https:\/\/ani.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/INOVPNT-300x157.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.piep.pt\/inovpnt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Find out more about the project here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The INOVPNT project aimed to drive the use of functional and modified thermoplastic materials in the development of textile substrates with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
