<\/p>\n\n

The Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community (CIM) and the Pedro Nunes Institute (IPN) are organising the first virtual hackathon in Portugal, entitled “EU Sparks for Climate”. Taking place from 12 to 15 June, its aim is to develop innovative, technological and social solutions to combat climate change.<\/p>\n\n

From May to June 2024, a total of more than 22 virtual local hackathons will be held in European Union countries as part of the European Climate Change Adaptation Mission, accompanied by ANI. The initiative invites the participation of citizens and researchers from all member states and associated countries.<\/p>\n\n

Interested citizens must present a climate challenge they consider relevant to their community, city or region. Researchers are invited to share their experience in order to collaborate on developing solutions.<\/p>\n\n

The winning teams from all the local hackathons will receive training and mentoring as part of a programme developed specifically to develop their ideas further and compete in a final European hackathon in October 2024.<\/p>\n\n

Each of the three winning teams will receive a cash prize of \u20ac5,000, personalised mentoring, support for a crowdfunding campaign, access to a network of angel investors and support to expand their solution.<\/p>\n\n

Registration for the national virtual hackathon is now open here.<\/a> Portuguese citizens and researchers are invited to take part.<\/p>\n\n
