Alqueva Floating Solar Park<\/strong>\"\"\/\"\"\/\"\"\/\"\"\/<\/p>\n\n

The Alqueva Floating Solar Park<\/a> project in Portugal has won the European Sustainable Energy Week<\/a> (EUSEW) award in the Innovation category, organised by the European Commission.<\/p>\n\n

The Alqueva Floating Solar Park, led by EDP, considered the largest park in Europe on a dam reservoir and with technological innovation tested for the first time in Portugal, aims to bring together solar energy, hydroelectric energy and battery storage in an innovative technology to reduce emissions and protect nature at the same time.<\/p>\n\n

The Innovation category recognises ongoing or completed projects funded by the European Union that demonstrate an original and innovative path towards the energy transition.<\/p>\n\n

In the Local Energy Action category, the KLIK (Kri\u017eevci Laboratory for Innovation in Climate)<\/a> project won, for developing an energy community in Croatia, bringing clean energy to citizens and for having the ambition of having 20 per cent of homes in the Croatian town of Kri\u017eevci install photovoltaic (PV) systems by 2030. This category recognises sustainable energy actions implemented by a group of citizens or consumers that contribute to the energy transition at community or local level.<\/p>\n\n

In the Women in Energy category, Anastasia-Maria Moschovi<\/a> won the award for her work as a materials engineer, bringing energy innovation to Greece. This category recognises women who lead outstanding activities that help promote the transition to clean energy for Europe.<\/p>\n\n

EUSEW is the largest annual conference dedicated to renewable energies and energy efficiency in Europe.<\/p>\n\n
